There is nothing that makes me more upset than when people speak negatively about our troops. These are American Heroes who voluntarily risk their lives for us every day. They have families at home just like you and I, that they don’t get to kiss goodnight or sit down for dinner with. But you already know this. In any case, while trying to get my point across to a liberal friend, who posted something extremely insensitive on Facebook (go figure) in relation to a news story she heard about some particular troop members, I came across this video, which of course brought tears to my eyes. God Bless our Troops and God Bless the USA.
Fun Fact: I was born & raised in the heavily liberal region of the US typically referred to as South Florida. How I got out unscathed as a steadfast conservative, is a miracle. That being said, I do love a lot of things about my hometown with the exception of the heavily liberal population. Yes- I was a citizen of the infamous Broward County during the 2000 Presidential election, hanging chads and all. I can’t say I was surprised, it’s not the most organized part of town. Unfortunately, I know all about Mrs. DNC chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz all too well due to her too-long of a tenure in Florida politics and her too-close-for-comfort proximity in residential living.
So what is the point of all this? I’m getting there…
I still closely follow the “happenings” of South Florida even though I no longer reside in the city limits, just so I can keep tabs on what’s going on around my hometown. I still miss it after all. Today I logged onto Facebook, as I do many days, and came across a post from a popular news channel in South Florida bringing attention to the fact that 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney will be in West Palm Beach this afternoon. Of course, I always read the comments to these types of stories, which are sometimes surprising yet oftentimes ignorant, by people who also follow the page. Without further adieu, here is what I laid my eyes upon:
I mean, seriously… you are probably thinking these people cannot be for real- sadly, they are. I of course, after holding myself back from posting politically oriented comments on Facebook for so long had to unleash on them.
All of this led me to recall my excellent public schooling education in South Florida. I realized- wait- I can’t just explain something to these people… yes, if I remember correctly, something like this will take a video to fully comprehend. In my school (the top in the county), we relied heavily on School House Rock (you know, “conjunction junction, what’s your function?”) in even my honors classes… sad? I’ll let you decide. So I began my search for something easily comprehendible, and I think I found it. Not only was this easy to understand but it was also quite interesting. What you are about to see is a commercial which was actually banned in the United States, so much for the Constitution, huh? Take a look:
Hopefully it helped clear some things up. I also posted videos to The National Debt Road Trip and Federal Spending by the Numbers, which are both equally informative and entertaining. I highly recommend watching them. Even if you excelled in language arts.
Lesson 3: Do your research before spewing out phrases, statements, and facts you do not fully comprehend. You do know what assume stands for, right? (That may very well be just a South Florida public school thing too.) Sorry if you don’t.
Today I read a story that I’ve never heard before, I want you to read it too:
“Pam’s Story”
Pam knows the pain of considering abortion. More than 24 years ago, she and her husband Bob were serving as missionaries to the Phillipines and praying for a fifth child. Pam contracted amoebic dysentery, an infection of the intestine caused by a parasite found in contaminated food or drink. She went into a coma and was treated with strong antibiotics before they discovered she was pregnant.
Doctors urged her to abort the baby for her own safety and told her that the medicines had caused irreversible damage to her baby. She refused the abortion and cited her Christian faith as the reason for her hope that her son would be born without the devastating disabilities physicians predicted. Pam said the doctors didn’t think of it as a life, they thought of it as a mass of fetal tissue.
While pregnant, Pam nearly lost their baby four times but refused to consider abortion. She recalled making a pledge to God with her husband: If you will give us a son, we’ll name him Timothy and we’ll dedicate him to you and trust you to call him as a preacher of the gospel.
Pam ultimately spent the last two months of her pregnancy in bed and eventually gave birth to a healthy baby boy August 14, 1987. Pam’s youngest son is indeed a preacher. He preaches in prisons, makes hospital visits, and serves with his father’s ministry in the Phillipines. He also plays football. Pam’s son is Tim Tebow.
Isn’t this story amazing? Tim Tebow has gotten a lot of flack from the media for his Christian lifestyle but he remains steadfast. Isn’t it interesting that he’s oftentimes worn “John 3:16” in facepaint during games and recently he threw 316 yards [as the Denver Bronco’s quarterback] and averaged 3.16 yards per completion? Even in spite of all the negative, mocking press he gets, he still continues to succeed.
Lesson 2: The media can’t mess with God. Good will always prevail over evil.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Welcome to the inaugural post of The Poliwood Report. This site is aimed at pointing out the corrupt, one-sided mainstream media and it’s love affair with all things political. Confused? Don’t worry, I can explain.
The media is essentially obsessed with pushing political agendas, and oftentimes, they achieve just that. Unknowingly, you are being groomed to support causes you don’t truly understand. When it comes time to explain your new political stance, you most likely repeat whatever talking points you heard on TV. Still don’t get it? Here’s a shining example from the 2008 presidential campaign cycle:
Now where would this woman get the asinine idea that she would no longer have to pay for her own gas or mortgage if Obama got elected? Anyone want to take a guess? Yup, you got it. The lovely mainstream media took advantage of our [obviously] less educated citizens only to garner more votes for Obama. I wonder what this woman is doing today, waiting around for her gas card and mortgage payments care of Obama himself? Sorry, he must have been so busy throwing lavish, under-the-radar Halloween parties and going on vacation at your expense, he totally forgot. Maybe next month?
So there you go. Lesson 1: Do not trust the mainstream media. Think for yourself, do your own research, and question everything which you’ve been told. The only person truly looking out for you, is you.
